Generic Name: Trimethoprim
Brand Name: Trimpex

Among other usage of Trimpex-Trimethoprim include like Traveler’s diarrhoea, respiratory infections or middle ear infections, and also for preventing and treating the Pneumocystis infections when combined with drugs like either Sulphamethoxazole or Dapsone. The drug is powerful enough to fight bacteria in the body. The drug is also used for treating the infections related to the urinary tract. Other than listed in the medical guide, it has wider usage which is determined exclusively by the treating physician. However, this medicine is not effective for common cold, flu or any other viral infections.

Trimpex-Trimethoprim is considered as the man-made synthetic antibiotic drug which interferes with the generation of the chemical which is required for bacteria and human cells to produce proteins known as Tetrahydrofolic acid. This drug reduces the production of Tetrahydrofolic acid by minimizing enzyme which is responsible of making Tetrahydrofolic acid from Di-hydrofolic acid. The drug slows down the bacterial enzyme more than the corresponding human enzyme so the drug has less effect on the production of Tetrahydrofolic acid by humans. Some of the other drugs are cefradine, marbofloxacin, delorazepam
